Babetta 210 Scrambler
Modified frame, increased power, and acceleration that is out of the ordinary for mopeds. This is the Scrambler by bbttagroup.
How did this project come about?
We have been planning to build something unique for a long time. The basis of our vision was for it to look good, and at the same time have excellent driving characteristics on the road (and off-road). We gained experience in building something similar - the Babetta 207 Cafe Racer in 2021, so we were already quite confident that we could do it.
Power
Our goal was to make riding this moped dynamic and fun, and we succeeded.
Cylinder
The engine cylinder has modified timing and enlarged channels. The diameter of the cylinder is also increased to the twelfth cut. The last grinding of the cylinder added almost 7.82 ml to the engine volume. That may not seem like much, but that's a 16% increase in engine displacement.
Carburetor and intake
The Scrambler features the popular PHBG 21 carburetor, which has been tuned specifically for this engine. We used a foam air filter, which not only perfectly filters dirt, but also gives a unique look to the entire moped.
Exhaust
A tuned exhaust on a modified two-stroke engine is must be. It not only increases the performance in the desired spectrum of revolutions, but thanks to it, the scrambler also has a unique sound.
Clutch and gears
Due to the modified engine timing - shifting the torque to higher revolutions, we also had to adjust the engagement of the clutch. The clutch engages at higher revs and thanks to this, the moped achieves excellent acceleration.
Thanks to the 12/35 gear ratio (13/51 stock), the Babetta reaches a maximum speed of 65-70 km/h. Also, the engine does not need to be enormously revved to reach maximum speed.
Appearance
Front light grille (honeycomb mesh)
The front light grille gives the scrambler a unique look, and also, serves as protection against stones when driving off-road.
Ignition
Key ignition on a moped? That's not exactly a common thing. This functionality was essential in deciding what was important, and what was not. It is an important safety feature if it´s going to be used for daily driving.
Babetta can be started using a pull starter, which is mounted on the right side of the moped. Thanks to it, starting does not depend on the clutch, and "kicking in" is much easier.
